context
The client, a lawyer with an architecture background, arrived with a clear vision: two storeys, dual orientation, measured near-passive performance. The 1,500 m² plot sits on the village edge, directly bordering the Pilisi Parkerdő with an 8-metre pine fringe.
brief
The plot drops by four metres, code mandated a protective buffer to adjacent farmland, and the client asked for a hybrid SIP-and-traditional structural approach. The structural answer was a hybrid: SIP on the façade planes, reinforced-concrete cores carrying the load-bearing layers.
concept
A long, low north mass faces a south-opening terrace wing, with larch boards framed by bronze-toned aluminium reveals. SIP panels carry the façade planes; reinforced-concrete cores anchor the structure on either side. A geothermal heat pump pairs with 12 kWp of solar; rainwater harvesting feeds the garden irrigation.
outcome
The full shell stood in 14 weeks; construction wrapped at month 11. Energy measurement landed at class BB+, with annual primary energy demand at 58 kWh/m²/year. The client moved in two years ago; the upper level with its skylight band serves as their office — the firm now sources us through that connection.
