context
The client is a young family of four who relocated from Budapest to the Pest county green belt. The 720 m² suburban plot faces south, with a 30-metre stand of mature pines on its flank. The goal was set at the first consultation: fast construction, low running costs, minimal maintenance — and a child-friendly layout on a single level.
brief
Local code imposed a strict façade-ratio requirement, and the client had eight months to move-in. We chose SIP panel construction so that manufacturing and on-site assembly could run in parallel. The energy target was set below class BB.
concept
An L-shaped plan opens south to the living-kitchen-dining space, with three bedrooms set back into the sheltered north wing. The façade is clad in horizontal spruce boards — same material logic carries through to fence and garden pavilion. The roof carries 8 kWp of solar, an air-source heat pump, and heat-recovery ventilation. The slab and SIP shell stood in eight weeks; handover landed at the end of the ninth month.
outcome
Measured annual primary energy demand: 65 kWh/m²/year — near-passive-house performance. The family moved in two weeks ahead of schedule, and the year-end walkthrough flagged a single snag — the garden shutter wanted minor adjustment after one season. The house now serves as a reference on our SIP open days.
